Barcaldine House is a 300 year old elegant Scottish country house mansion which is nestled in mature grounds and gardens - some of the best of any Scottish hotels. Barcaldine has just completed a stunning refurbishment (January 2011). The House boasts 11 spacious guest rooms including a luxury suite and self catering cottages within the hotel grounds. Barcaldine’s facilities include an oak-panelled billiard room, a sumptuous drawing room, a well stocked lounge bar and a superb dining room, all with roaring log fires. Rising star head chef Oskars Kalnins has worked at the highest level with Andrew Fairlie and was part of a Michelin star winning team in a previous role. Only the finest local produce is used with great imagination to prepare the ‘ultimate dining experience’. Our guest rooms are fully equipped with LCD television, DVD and CD players and data connection point for free internet use. Egyptian cotton and luxury bath towels are used throughout the House and complimented by locally produced toiletries. Barcaldine House is only 10 miles from Oban, Argyll’s principal Town and ferry port from which there are numerous cruises to the Islands including Iona, Mull, Staffa and the Outer Hebrides.
